CLASS PROGRAM INFORMATION

Our classes are based upon the Florida Contractors Manual, 2004, as is the examination.

4-DAY TECHNICAL SAFETY CLASS

Examinations for licensure are offered three (3) times a year in March, July and November and are usually held in the Orlando area. (See schedules link). The Technical/Safety class will be given the Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday just prior to the exam date.

When you register for our Florida Electrical Contractors (FEC) exam classes you can choose to take the Technical/Safety class just prior to the available exam dates (see schedules link), or you can take your Technical/Safety class up to one year prior to the actual exam date of your choice. Please keep in mind that your application to sit for any exam MUST be submitted to the DPBR at least three (3) months ahead of the exam date.

Our study guides, in conjunction with the interactive class environment, helps to provide a clearly defined, dovetailed approach to systematic learning. All answers are included with our study material.

Study Guides included with Technical/Safety Class Registration:

National Electrical Code (NEC)2005 (Electrical Technical Class), OSHA, NFPA 780 and Standard for Installation of Lightning Protection Systems

  • Covers all pertinent articles of the NEC, 2002.
  • NEC, 2002 = 1260 Multiple choice and True/False questions
  • OSHA = 85 Multiple choice and true/false questions for the construction industry
  • NFPA 780 = 59 Multiple choice and True/False questions
  • DC Logic (Handed out in class)
  • Specialty Book (Handed out in class for your specific Alarm or Electrical/Specialty Limited License type.

The 4-day Technical/Safety class and the following study guides are included in the Full Tuition for $1350.00 (and also includes the 2-day Business class and related guide), or can be purchased separately for $895.00.

 

2-DAY BUSINESS CLASS

Examinations are offered as computer-based exams through a “Promissor” (vendor), and the results are reported as a subscore. The fee is $22.50 and is payable directly to the Promissor by the candidate.

Business classes are scheduled on the Wednesday and Thursday of the week prior to the Technical/Safety classes (held Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday), which is just prior to the exam date. Please keep in mind that your application to sit for any exam MUST be submitted to the DPBR at least three (3) months ahead of the exam date.

Business class study guide:

FEC Business Class Guide – Covers the Business Chapters 1 – 10, with over 425 Multiple Choice and True/False Questions with answers.

The 2-day Business class and the accompanying study guide is included in the Full Tuition for $1350.00 (and also includes the 4-day Technical/Safety class and related guides), or can be purchased separately for $595.00.

Class advice:                                     Be Prepared!

  • Smoking will not be allowed in the classes or at the exam site. No food is allowed in the exam, and drinks must be in spill-proof containers.
  • Read all of the required chapters and study material making notes in the margins of anything you need clarification on.
  • Bring your notepads, pens, pencils, highlighters, etc that you may need once in the class.
  • Bring any toiletries you will need (tissues, aspirin, etc) (If you will be taking these things into the exam…remember you need an 8” x 11” clear plastic bag!)
  • Pack what you will need for the class the night before and put it in your car! (Reference materials, Manuals, Study material, etc)
  • Get a good nights sleep!
  • Rise a little earlier!
  • Eat a good breakfast!
  • Leave a little earlier than usual!
